Language has power. The ability to express deeply felt opinions in a way that shares the message without judgment is a critical activity for all groups. It requires safe space, intentional communication skills, shared rules (norms), and superior facilitation skills. The Diversity Coach ™ conducts Courageous Conversations™ sessions for all types of groups. This service has allowed dozens of client groups to achieve breakthrough, to discuss undiscussables, and to raise issues safely.

The Metro Atlanta YMCA has taken a lead role in the diversity movement of YMCA USA. In a series of sessions using the Courageous Conversations™ process, they have addressed a number of issues that have impacted them directly as well as a number of issues that affect the 'Y" movement. An example was the critical issue of religious diversity in the association. It was entitled, 'Where is the 'C" in YMCA".
