executive teaming

"The reason we like your training is that you don't come in with a prescribed solution. You partner with us to find the best solution. We thought we had a traditional diversity issue. You helped us realize that Executive Teaming was where we needed to start."
- Eric Norwood, DeKalb Medical Center

The Diversity Coach™ does not offer prescriptive solutions. Our approach is to listen to our clients and draw upon our expertise and experience to craft a process that fits their unique situation. Creating opportunities for learning is a core tenet of our work (learning occurs in formal, informal, and non-formal settings). In Executive Teaming, our goal is to provide information to the leaders regarding the organization and their role in its success in a way that helps them become more effective as a team. We also will guide them to ways to make the organization's vision operational. It involves surfacing hard truths about governance, organization, strategy, and team dynamics while providing a safe environment for processing this information constructively. Our objectives for Executive Teaming include:
  • Identifying strengths that need to be acknowledged and magnified.
  • Identifying behaviors that need to be stopped.
  • Identifying places where accountability is lacking.
  • Identifying barriers to effective decision making.
  • Identifying opportunities to increase candor and trust.
  • Engaging the board in Courageous Conversations™ to gain consensus on their vision for success.
  • Benchmarking organizational structures and inviting the board to take a critical look at how their structure helps or hinders the realization of their vision.
  • Developing recommendations for tying strategy to execution.
  • Outlining learning and development activities for the leaders.
The advantage of engaging in this session prior to major change initiative is three-fold:
  • Combines Diversity Management and Executive Coaching into an experience that enhances the functioning of a leadership team.
  • Enables team members to leverage their diversity and manage their diversity tensions to the benefit of the enterprise.
  • Provides context and skills for team members to engage in Courageous Conversations™ that deepen relationships
